Brookhaven National Laboratory – Stack Demolition

Project Description

A study to estimate vibration effects likely transmitted to surrounding sensitive laboratories from the demolition of the Building 705 stack at Brookhaven National Lab. Vibration data collected onsite consisted of the collection of background vibrations; determined damping characteristics between soil immediately outside laboratories of concern, determined damping characteristics of the soils between laboratories of interest and planned demolition, vibration attenuation between stack foundation and adjacent soil, and attenuation of vibration through building to laboratory research equipment.
